Ice Cream Social at 18 Reasons

The annual ice-cream social at 18 Reasons is one our favorite events.  This year they have moved it from an evening gathering to a more family friendly time on a Sunday (yay!).  I attend the event primarily because I enjoy watching Stacie’s son motor down large amounts of ice-cream and love the looks on the kids’ faces when they realize what you have brought them to.  This ice cream social has inspired us to throw our own make-your-own-sundae-parties at home.

Here is the information from the 18 Reasons website:

Event:  DIY Desserts Ice Cream Social

When: Sunday, September 23, 1-2:30PM

Cost: With ice cream sundae bar contribution: $5 suggested donation $10 just to eat
Bring your best homemade ice cream or topping to contribute to the tastiest make-your-own sundae bar in San Francisco. As always. no competition. Just folks making, sharing, and enjoying good dessert. Kids welcome.
Now, the tough part of deciding what to bring.  It’s not competitive, but it has to be good!  My little plus-one wants to bring her box of multicolored sprinkles from Safeway (yuck!), while I am still deciding between ice-cream or topping.  For ice-cream the options are – mango or strawberry buttermilk (a lighter ice-cream) or, perhaps condensed milk ice-cream (unique, but far “heavier”) and maybe even mix it up and bring some of my mom’s kulfi-pops?  For toppings – our easy fudge sauceBee’s chocolate fudge sauce, berry sauce (made for last social. so cannot repeat) or our delicious home-made granola.
Decisions!  Decisions!!
