Favorite foodie bedtime books:
“Toot & Puddle – The Great Cheese Chase” based on Toot & Puddle by Holly Hobbie: Travel with Toot & Puddle to Paris in search of Le Chateau du Fromage (heaven?) and check out Paris’ sights such as the Lourve, Eiffel Tower and of course outdoor markets, bakeries and crepe shops. “The more places you go, the more things you know”. I hope that one sticks with the kiddos.
“Bi-Bim Bop!“ by Linda Sue Park (Author), Ho Baek Lee (Illustrator): I’m hungry, hungry, hungry for some bi-bim bop! This rhyming story takes you shopping, into the kitchen and to the dinner table and even includes a recipe for bi-bim bop.
Cookbooks we love:
“Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking” by Marcella Hazan. If you love Italian food, this an absolute must. I reach for this cookbook often. She gives great, detailed instructions. My favorite recipe is the “Pork Loin Braised in Milk, Bolognese-Style”. How can just two ingredients become so delicious?
“Cooking By Hand“, by Paul Bertoli. An ingredient-driven, philosophical sort of cookbook. A whole chapter on balsamic vinegar, another on tomatoes….. An interesting read as well as good recipes.
