Beauty’s Bagels is a recent discovery of ours and one that we are hankering to return to. Too bad that is in Oakland, otherwise Beauty’s would be on the regular before and after school rotations. There’s noting quite like a good bagel (and there is also nothing like a bad/mediocre bagel!). New York is still bagel capital, but this little shop in Oakland gives the bagels in New York and Montreal a run for their money!
For those of you, like me, who do not know what a “Montreal-style” bagel is, according to the shop’s website: “Our bagels are Montreal-style, which means they are hand-rolled, boiled in honey water and baked in a wood-fired oven, resulting in a bagel that is soft in texture with a perfectly crunchy crust, a slight sweetness and a hint of smoke. Prepared with organic ingredients and baked in small batches throughout the day”.
I don’t really care what “style” they are except they are “yummy-good” especially with some Sierra Nevada cream cheese an some hand-sliced lox. Even Matteo, could not keep his hands off. Hence, no photo without his “reaching” hands. 🙂
Note: If you are hankering for a very awesome bagel after reading this, and cannot quite make it to Oakland anytime soon, check out the very legit Wise Sons Deli in the Mission. On Saturdays, their menu says they serve Beauty’s Bagels and you can possibly get some to take home.
